Following a recount, Americans for Prosperity-South Carolina (AFP-SC) celebrated the victory of James Daniel “JD” Chaplin as the next State Senator for District 29. The win was secured by a margin of 87 votes.

AFP-SC attributed this success to their grassroots efforts, having reached nearly 30,000 doors during the campaign. Matt Humm, AFP-SC State Director, stated: "Building a statewide grassroots operation didn’t happen overnight. AFP-SC is thrilled to see the engagement of our grassroots activists pay off for Senate District 29. Flipping this seat helps move the needle on South Carolina becoming the freest state in the south through prosperity driven legislative items. We congratulate JD, a principled leader we at AFP-SC are eager to work with in the coming year."

The organization views this result as a significant step towards advancing their legislative goals in South Carolina.
