Nevada State University's School of Nursing Simulation Center has achieved Provisional Accreditation from the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH). This recognition marks it as the first simulation program focused on pre-licensure nursing education in Nevada to earn such an honor. The center is a candidate for full accreditation, pending a two-year review by SSH. Additionally, Nevada State's baccalaureate degree program in nursing holds accreditation from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).

"The Simulation Center’s Provisional Accreditation is a pivotal milestone, affirming our commitment to excellence and innovation in nursing education," stated Nina Marcellus, Director of Health Sciences Lab and Simulation at Nevada State University. "This accolade validates our rigorous standards and paves the way for continuous improvement, ensuring that our simulation lab remains at the forefront of preparing future healthcare professionals with the highest quality training."

Situated on the College of Southern Nevada’s Henderson campus within Nevada State's wing, the simulation center features advanced manikins that mimic various patient care scenarios. These simulations are designed to prepare students for their careers by providing realistic experiences. The program also includes trained actors portraying patients to enhance students' interpersonal skills like emotional intelligence and cultural humility.

"As future registered nurses, having access to this state-of-the-art simulation center allows us to hone developing knowledge and skills, build confidence in clinical practice, and prepare for real-world clinical situations in a safe and dynamic environment," said Andrei Del Rosario, a student at Nevada State University’s School of Nursing. "Each simulation brings us one step closer to becoming compassionate and trusted healthcare professionals."

The School of Nursing offers flexible scheduling options with full-time and part-time tracks alongside pre-licensure and post-licensure BSN programs. In its effort to remove barriers to higher education, Nevada State introduced a night shift cohort beginning Spring 2024 for those unable to attend traditional class hours.
