The Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) has announced the appointment of Senator Pete Goicoechea to the Board of Regents, where he will represent District 8. Senator Goicoechea brings over thirty years of experience in public service, having served in both the Nevada Senate and Assembly, as well as spending 16 years as a Eureka County Commissioner. His background as a rancher and lifelong resident of rural Nevada provides him with a unique perspective on the needs of students from these areas.
Board of Regents Chair Amy J. Carvalho commented on his appointment: “The addition of Senator Goicoechea enhances our Board’s collective expertise. His insights will be instrumental as we continue to address the diverse educational needs of Nevada’s students.”
NSHE Chancellor Patricia Charlton also expressed her enthusiasm: “Senator Goicoechea’s deep-rooted understanding of Nevada’s rural areas and his longstanding dedication to public service will be invaluable assets to the Board. We look forward to his contributions in advancing higher education across the state.”
