The Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) has announced the temporary closure of its Winnemucca office from December 16 to December 20 for remodeling. The renovation aims to improve the work environment and update facilities.
"Our staff is very happy about this refurbishment," said DMV services manager, Tami Nielsen. "They needed more room behind the counters to secure license plates and cover personally identifiable information (PII), and mostly everything was old and in need of repair. This cosmetic redesign will greatly enhance the techs’ workstations."
During the closure, customers are encouraged to use the DMV's online services for routine transactions. Alternatively, they can visit either the Fallon or Elko DMV offices for in-person service.
"The customers can expect our office to look more up-to-date and professional," said Melissa Patrick, a Winnemucca drive examiner. "We are getting new cabinetry and countertops since the current ones were getting a little dated. This office is going to have a fresh new look and feel, which is perfect timing for the new year."
The Winnemucca DMV office is scheduled to reopen on December 23.
