The Vegas Chamber has introduced JobX, a new online platform aimed at assisting job seekers in Southern Nevada by providing information on in-demand careers within the region. The website includes a career quiz to help users find jobs that match their interests and preferences. JobX is designed to streamline the job discovery process and provide access to valuable information through a partnership with EmployNV.
Mary Beth Sewald, president and CEO of the Vegas Chamber, stated, "JobX gives students, job seekers and those who want to pursue a sustainable career in Southern Nevada a central hub for discovering new opportunities and accessing valuable information across a variety of career fields." She emphasized that many people struggle with knowing where to begin their career journey, and JobX aims to be the primary tool for guidance.
Southern Nevada has seen significant job growth over the past year, adding 41,100 jobs with a 3.7% growth rate primarily driven by construction and government sectors. However, the unemployment rate remains above the national average.
JobX will concentrate on the top 20 most sought-after occupations in Clark County. These roles include software development, teaching assistants, paralegals, plumbers, nurse practitioners among others.
Sewald added that "Our job market has shifted significantly since the pandemic," highlighting that JobX is intended to bridge gaps in knowledge about available opportunities that offer good income and quality of life.
