The Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) will offer drivers the option to add a communication need symbol to their driver's license, identification card, or Driver Authorization Card (DAC) starting January 1. This initiative aims to enhance motorist safety.

The addition of the symbol is optional and does not require medical documentation or disclosure of any condition. The cost for updating the information on a card is $8.25.

To obtain this addition, customers must visit a DMV office in person and complete either DMV form DMV-002 (Application for Driving Privileges) or DMV form CDL-002 (Application for Commercial Driving Privileges). Appointments can be made at dmv.nv.gov.

This change follows Assembly Bill 161 from the 82nd Session of the Nevada Legislature.
