Americans for Prosperity (AFP) has initiated a $20 million nationwide campaign urging Congress to renew the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA), a significant piece of legislation from President Trump's administration. The initiative, marking the largest conservative support effort for Trump's second-term legislative agenda, aims to prevent tax increases by maintaining these cuts.
Adam Thompson, AFP-AL State Director, expressed concerns about potential tax hikes if Congress does not act. "This year, Congress is facing a countdown to a crisis that threatens family budgets nationwide. If Congress fails to renew the TCJA, Alabamians will be left paying over $2,127 more in taxes," he said. He highlighted the potential impact on local businesses and jobs as well.
Thompson added, "If we are going to reignite the American Dream, we need to start with protecting the progress we made with the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act."
The Protect Prosperity campaign plans extensive outreach across all 50 states. This includes engaging millions of voters through various means such as phone calls and door-to-door visits. The campaign seeks to amplify voices in favor of pro-growth tax policies while holding accountable those who oppose them.
Additionally, AFP intends to execute an extensive media strategy and lobbying efforts with over 1,000 meetings planned with Congressional offices. The organization also aims to host events with activists and Members of Congress alongside testimonials from families and businesses affected by potential changes in tax policy.
AFP's past efforts reached nearly 30 million voters through 2023 and 2024. This year they plan further grassroots activities including community phone banks and significant constituent outreach in February alone.
