Lansing, Michigan – Americans for Prosperity (AFP) has announced a $20 million campaign aimed at urging Congress to renew the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA), originally enacted under President Trump. This campaign represents the largest effort by a conservative organization to support the legislative agenda of Trump's second term.
Tim Golding, AFP-Michigan State Director, highlighted the potential impact on family budgets if Congress does not act: "This year, Congress is facing a countdown to a crisis that threatens family budgets nationwide. If Congress fails to renew the TCJA, Michiganders will be left paying over $2,000 more in taxes." He added that the expiration of these tax cuts could increase inflation burdens on working families and result in over 22,000 job losses in Michigan.
Golding emphasized the importance of protecting past economic progress: "If we are going to reignite the American Dream, we need to start with protecting the progress we made with the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act." He expressed pride in partnering with the Trump Administration to protect prosperity.
The Protect Prosperity campaign plans extensive voter engagement across all 50 states. The initiative includes phone outreach and door-to-door visits to encourage public support for pro-growth tax policies. It also involves media engagement strategies and lobbying efforts on Capitol Hill.
AFP's previous efforts through 2023 and 2024 reached nearly 30 million voters. This year, they plan further grassroots activities such as calls to lawmakers and community phone banks.
