Las Vegas marked a significant milestone with the "Topping Off" ceremony for the Westside Training & Education Center. The event, which took place off Adams Street, was attended by community members and leaders as they celebrated the placement of the final steel beam, symbolizing progress in economic development and workforce education for the historic Westside neighborhood.

The ceremony featured prominent figures such as Congressman Steven Horsford, Las Vegas Ward 5 Councilwoman Shondra Summers-Armstrong, NSHE Chancellor Patty Charlton, and CSN Acting President Dr. William Kibler. Former Regent and Las Vegas City Councilman Cedric Crear also participated alongside current council members and Builders United, the construction team responsible for the project.

Attendees engaged in a symbolic act by signing the steel beam with messages of hope and unity before it was lifted into position. This gesture underscored the collaborative effort behind the center's development.

Dr. William Kibler emphasized the significance of this project: “This center represents opportunity and a bright future for our community.” He highlighted the partnerships between CSN, the City of Las Vegas, and others that have been crucial to reaching this point.

The Westside Training & Education Center aims to be a hub for workforce education, providing residents with skills needed for careers in demand. It also stands as a commitment to revitalizing the Westside neighborhood and empowering its residents.

The event concluded with cheers from attendees as the beam was placed, signifying not just construction progress but also hope for a brighter future for the area.
