The College of Southern Nevada's Environmental Health & Safety Department is offering emergency equipment training sessions for students, faculty, and staff. These sessions aim to prepare participants to handle emergencies by providing practical experience with various safety techniques.
Participants will have the opportunity to use a simulated fire extinguisher, practice with an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), and learn Stop-the-Bleed techniques. The training is designed to be flexible, allowing attendees to engage at their own pace without the need for prior registration.
Training sessions are scheduled as follows: North Las Vegas Campus on February 24, Charleston Campus on April 21, and Henderson Campus on September 15. Each session will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Student Union, Room 130.
The program covers several key areas:
- "Fire Extinguisher 101" teaches participants how to use a fire extinguisher simulator and identify extinguishers around campus.
- "AED & CPR Basics" offers instruction on handling cardiac emergencies through chest compressions, rescue breaths, and AED operation.
- "Stop-the-Bleed Training" provides guidance on controlling severe bleeding, wound packing, and tourniquet application.
