The Nevada Division of Outdoor Recreation has announced the recipients of its second annual Outdoor Education and Recreation Grant Program. This year, 57 applications were submitted, requesting nearly $1.2 million in funding. After a competitive review process, the Advisory Board on Outdoor Recreation (ABOR) and division staff selected 21 projects to receive awards totaling $250,345.24.
The grants awarded include nine microgrants of $7,500 or less and twelve Tier II grants of up to $25,000. The funded programs encompass a variety of activities such as urban beekeeping and diverse camp experiences.
In its first two years, the Nevada Outdoor Education & Recreation (NOER) program has been supported by $500,000 allocated through Assembly Bill 128 during the 2023 legislative session. This funding has facilitated 45 projects reaching students across all 17 counties in Nevada. The initiative is seen as an important step toward enhancing youth access to outdoor activities throughout the state.
