On February 27, 2025, over 30 students from the College of Southern Nevada (CSN) participated in an educational outing organized by the ECo Club at Red Rock Canyon. The event was led by Dr. Melissa Giovanni, the club's advisor. During the visit to the Middle Oak Creek Trail, students explored Joshua Tree forests and learned about the Mojave Desert ecosystem as well as the area's geological history.
Dr. Giovanni emphasized conservation efforts during the excursion, stating: "Most importantly, we discussed the importance of conserving our wild public lands and how to be good stewards of the environment!" The outing aimed to provide practical learning experiences outside of traditional classroom settings.
