Fifteen students from various Liberal Arts programs recently attended a three-day Filmmakers Bootcamp at the Dandini Campus. The event was organized by the Cordillera International Film Festival and the Future Filmmakers Foundation, offering participants insights into careers in the film industry.
TMCC Graphic Arts instructor Fe Danger highlighted the bootcamp's comprehensive approach to filmmaking. "We started with the basics that anybody who might be thinking of a career… kind of anywhere around film production might wind up," said Danger. The program covered aspects such as pre-production, writing screenplays, producing films, and on-set production.
Participants engaged in exercises related to writing, directing, and acting. Danger noted that even professionals from Warner Brothers participated in sharing their experiences. "Everybody that was there walked away with ‘wow, that was really powerful,’ even myself," Danger remarked.
Hannah Goodfellow, a TMCC student majoring in motion graphics and graphic design, emphasized the importance of attitude in pursuing a film career. "They put a big emphasis on attitude... Because this is such a competitive industry," she stated.
Goodfellow also expressed how the bootcamp broadened her perspective on potential career paths within the industry. She shared her intention to volunteer at future events organized by the Film Festival.
The bootcamp provided graduates with opportunities for on-set experiences and internships. Goodfellow concluded by expressing her newfound openness to exploring various roles within the film industry beyond animation.
