The College of Southern Nevada (CSN) is set to present a modern adaptation of the ancient Greek tragedy "Trojan Women" this April. Directed by CSN Theatre Professor Dustin K. Shaffer, M.F.A., the play reimagines Euripides' classic work for contemporary audiences.
Set against the backdrop of Troy's ruins, the narrative follows Queen Hecuba and other women from the fallen city as they navigate captivity and grief while questioning the futility of war. Key characters include Cassandra, who foresees events but remains unheard; Andromache, who mourns her husband while protecting her child; and Helen, who attempts to escape blame with various tactics.
Performances will be held at CSN’s BackStage Theatre starting Friday, April 11 at 7 p.m., with additional evening shows on April 16–19 and matinees on April 13 and 19. Tickets are priced at $10 for general admission and $5 for students and seniors. More information can be found at csn.edu/pac.
The production addresses themes such as war, violence, and survival, prompting a viewer discretion advisory. The CSN Performing Arts Center is located at 3200 E. Cheyenne Ave.
