The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) community is preparing for its annual day of giving, known as Rebels Give. This event aims to raise funds for various causes, including student scholarships, research and innovation, athletics, the arts, and essential resources addressing food insecurity and mental health.

Since its launch in 2018, Rebels Give has gathered over 7,600 donors who have contributed more than $2.9 million in support of UNLV scholarships and programs. The UNLV Foundation collaborated with Chicken N Pickle and Raising Cane’s to host events earlier this month to promote early engagement with the campaign.

A notable tradition during this period is the Pie on Pida event scheduled for March 27 at Pida Plaza. It features activities such as a DJ set, photo booth, diamond painting with the Rebel Events Board, and more. Participants can earn Rebels Give merchandise like t-shirts and stickers by joining these festivities.

A highlight of the event is the opportunity to pie campus leaders with whipped cream from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., requiring a $5 donation per pie to any campus cause. This year’s theme includes a shoe charm resembling a postage stamp featuring the iconic “LV” hands.

More than 20 UNLV community members are participating in this fundraising effort. Key figures include Shawn Gerstenberger, dean of the School of Public Health; David Cárdenas, dean of the College of Hospitality; Rama Venkat, dean of the College of Engineering; CSUN President Allister Dias; and faculty from various colleges within UNLV.

Participants will wear protective gear while encouraging donations for their chosen causes. The top fundraiser will receive a trophy and bragging rights for the year.

The Rebels Give Influencer program allows students, alumni, faculty, staff, and friends to share their chosen causes within their networks while earning incentives. Student influencers can enter a drawing for an iPad by receiving donations through their influencer link.

Graduating students can contribute $20.25 in honor of their graduation year through the Rebel Legacy initiative and receive a special green generosity cord for commencement ceremonies.

Donors contributing $75 or more will receive specially designed Rebels Give socks while supplies last.

“Rebels Give is an exciting day of Rebel spirit as the UNLV community comes together to support scholarships and programs across campus and leave a lasting impact on current and future students,” said Arianne Yago-Kippen, director of Annual Giving. She emphasized that gifts of all sizes are important: “Rebels make it happen so whether you give $5 or $500 your donation makes a difference for generations of UNLV students.”

For further details about participation or donations, individuals are encouraged to visit the Rebels Give website or contact annualgiving@unlv.edu.
