The Nevada Division of State Parks and the Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) have announced that Cave Creek Reservoir at Cave Lake State Park has reached full capacity. This follows the completion of the Cave Creek Dam project. The reservoir is now spilling over into the newly constructed dam spillway, with all systems functioning as expected. NDOW is also working to enhance the fishery by stocking 17,000 fish throughout spring, aiming to ensure a sustainable resource for anglers.
With the reservoir restored and efforts to improve the fishery underway, visitors can once again enjoy Cave Lake State Park's scenic beauty and recreational opportunities. However, caution is advised due to debris from vegetation that grew in the dry lakebed during reconstruction.
To mark this milestone, Nevada State Parks, along with NDOW and White Pine County, will host "Rediscover Cave Lake," a grand reopening event on Saturday, June 7, 2025. The event will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., featuring outdoor activities and entertainment. Further details will be announced soon.
Applications for vendors, sponsors, and volunteers are open until May 7, 2025. Information can be found online at parks.nv.gov/events.
"We invite the community to join us in celebrating the return of Cave Lake and look forward to welcoming visitors back to this beloved Nevada treasure."
