Western Nevada College (WNC) is bringing back its popular summer kids' camps, known as the "College for Kids" program. These camps cater to children ages 8-14 and will run for a total of six weeks. Each session offers diverse and engaging activities aimed at providing children with both fun and educational experiences.
The program includes a multi-disciplinary sports camp, organized in partnership with "Skiing is Believing." These camps will be available on four different weeks: June 23-27, July 14-18, July 21-25, and August 11-15. Activities such as mountain biking, hiking, martial arts, and archery are part of the plan, all led by certified and experienced coaches. Meghan Ochs, the founder of "Skiing is Believing," is the camp director, leading a team focused on personalized coaching.
Additionally, the program offers iLead, a camp focusing on outdoor exploration alongside team building and decision-making exercises. This component runs from July 14-18 and July 21-25, under the direction of Rayce Malmed, a local teacher. iLead aims to help children develop confidence and leadership skills.
The camps will be held at the Western Nevada College Carson City campus. Safety is emphasized, with small student-to-staff ratios and a fully self-contained environment. Parents will be provided with a detailed handbook covering all essential information.
