Rodgers and Hammerstein's celebrated musical, "The Sound of Music," which has delighted audiences for six decades, is being staged by the Western Nevada Musical Theatre Company this May. This production narrates the journey of Maria Ranier, a young novice sent from her convent to become a governess for seven children of a widowed naval captain. The musical intertwines Maria's developing relationship with the captain against the historical backdrop of Nazi-occupied Austria.
The presentation includes a full professional orchestra to enhance the renowned score.
Tickets are in high demand for this classic, with several performances already sold out. Showings are set for weekends from May 9-18, with evening performances at 7:30 p.m. on May 9, 10, 16, and 17.
