CSN student filmmakers have achieved a significant milestone, securing 18 nominations for the Student Production Emmy Awards from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Pacific Southwest Chapter. This accomplishment marks the highest number in CSN's history and is also the best performance in Nevada. It places them among the top 5% of student programs nationwide.
“It’s extremely rare to see numbers like this,” said John Aliano, CSN Film faculty. “We should really celebrate the success of these talented individuals.”
The nominations cover a wide range of categories, including directing, editing, writing, and special effects. Hisonni Johnson stands out with multiple nominations for his work on "Legend Has It: The Remarkable Rise of Stephen McCain." Johnson is also scheduled to be CSN’s 2025 Commencement Speaker later this month.
The Emmy-nominated productions feature various genres from documentaries to fiction shorts, with titles such as "Silenced," "Breaking Barriers," "Verisimilitude," "Eighteen," and "9010" showcasing diverse storytelling from CSN's film program.
The complete list of nominees will be released soon. The early announcements underscore that CSN’s storytellers are gaining recognition for their work.
