The Nevada System of Higher Education has approved the appointment of Jeffrey Alexander, Ph.D., as the next President of Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC). Alexander, who currently serves as Vice President of Academic Affairs at TMCC, brings extensive experience in higher education, particularly with community colleges.

Alexander's career includes leadership roles at Pueblo Community College in Colorado and the University of Wisconsin–Parkside. At TMCC, he has focused on expanding access to education, improving student success, and building partnerships with industry and regional agencies. His efforts have supported initiatives like open educational resources and expanded certificate programs.

Alexander holds a Ph.D. in History from the University of British Columbia and has authored three books on Japanese industry and technology. He is also involved with the Nevadaworks Board and recently chaired the Western Alliance of Community College Academic Leaders.

TMCC serves over 20,000 students through its workforce development and transfer programs. The college contributes significantly to the regional economy, adding more than $668.6 million annually according to Lightcast.

As Alexander begins his tenure on July 1, TMCC will start several new projects including construction on the EastView Theater at Dandini Campus and a Fire Rescue Training Facility at William N. Pennington Health Science Center. Additionally, women's volleyball will be added to TMCC Athletics.

“I’m honored and excited to start this new chapter,” said Alexander. “I want to acknowledge the high caliber of the finalists, as well as the kind support of the Board and our colleagues. I look forward to embarking on the next phase of TMCC’s journey, and to working with our community partners to forge the future together.”
