Nevada State University has appointed Yvonne Wade as its first athletic director, marking a significant step in establishing the university's athletics program. Wade previously served as Director of Athletics at the College of Southern Nevada (CSN) since July 2023 and held the position of Assistant Athletic Director from 2021 to 2023. Her experience includes 14 years at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), where she led Track & Field and Cross Country teams.

"Yvonne Wade brings exceptional experience, integrity, and a deep commitment to student development," said Dr. DeRionne Pollard, President of Nevada State University. "Her career reflects not only a record of competitive excellence but dedication to mentoring student-athletes and helping them thrive both academically and personally."

Wade is involved with Women in Sports and Events (WISE) Las Vegas, co-chairing the mentorship committee. She also serves on the board for Athletes for Athletes in Las Vegas, focusing on providing free heart screenings to young athletes.

"A lifelong commitment to mentorship, leadership, and student empowerment is at the heart of this appointment," stated Dr. Stefanie Coleman, Vice President of Student Affairs at Nevada State University.

As a former NCAA All-American and Big Eight Conference champion at the University of Colorado, Wade was inducted into their Athletic Hall of Fame in 2014. Internationally, she competed for Japan in two Summer Olympic Games.

"I’m incredibly honored to be named the new athletic director at Nevada State University," said Yvonne Wade. "Our focus will be on student development, fostering a culture rooted in hard work, resiliency, and pride."

A press conference will be held on May 21 to officially introduce Wade. She will begin her role on July 1. The inaugural sports programs will include Women's Flag Football and Men's Track and Field.
