With the first quarter concluded, Nevada's economic development efforts continue to show positive results. The Governor's Office of Economic Development (GOED) emphasizes its role in attracting investment, generating tax revenues, and creating jobs for Nevadans through various incentives.

A notable achievement is Nevada being awarded the Business Facilities 2024 Impact Award for the Apple data center. This facility, which received an expansion abatement last year, has provided over a thousand jobs since its inception in 2012. GOED highlights this as an example of how abated companies contribute to the state's economy.

In addition to offering incentives, GOED is actively involved in workforce and community development across sectors such as film and healthcare. An example of this is the Workforce Innovations for a New Nevada program, which supported the establishment of a new Nursing Skills Lab at the College of Southern Nevada's North Las Vegas campus.

Shari Davis' leadership at GOED has contributed significantly to these initiatives. Under her guidance, there are now 27 Main Street organizations representing 32 communities throughout Nevada.

Several key figures from different sectors have been acknowledged for their contributions: Jhone Ebert from the Department of Education; Dr. Weldon Havins from Touro University Nevada; Deborah Jacobs from MJS Packaging; Yolanda King from the Nevada Taxpayers Association; Dr. Kristopher Sanchez from the Department of Business & Industry; Jenney Sartin from Pahrump Valley Chamber of Commerce; Chris Sewell from the Department of Employment, Training & Rehabilitation; and Sasha Stephenson from SSS Public Affairs.
