On May 23, the College of Southern Nevada (CSN) celebrated Interim Chancellor Patty Charlton by fulfilling her longtime wish to serve as President for the Day. The event marked a joyful conclusion to the spring semester.
Charlton expressed her desire to Acting President Dr. William Kibler, and CSN Chief of Staff Dr. Yvonne Realivasquez recounted how they made it happen: “She told us it had always been on her bucket list to be president for a day,” said Realivasquez. “So, we said, let’s make it official!”
During her day as president, Charlton was honored with a custom proclamation and enjoyed a day filled with laughter and memories with the CSN community.
Charlton's leadership at CSN has been significant over the years. She has launched initiatives focused on students and advocated for equitable access to higher education, helping shape CSN into an institution that mirrors its diverse communities.
“She was and continues to be a significant figure in the history and future of CSN,” said Realivasquez. “We’ll miss her daily leadership, guidance, and vision through NSHE.”
While Charlton's role is changing, her influence at CSN will remain strong.
