For students at Western Nevada College (WNC), support from community champions can be transformative. Among the most impactful supporters is the Campagni Auto Group, which includes Carson City Toyota. Their dedication to education and workforce development provides significant opportunities for local students.
This year, the Campagni Auto Group awarded $5,000 in scholarships to WNC students pursuing associate degrees and careers in automotive mechanics. This financial aid helps remove barriers and open doors for students to acquire essential skills.
“The Campagni Auto Group and Carson City Toyota have truly given WNC students a better chance at succeeding in college,” stated WNC President Dr. J. Kyle Dalpe. “This partnership benefits not only our students — it plays a vital role in preparing them to become contributing members of our society.”
Some students depend on these scholarships to attend WNC and pursue careers that are in high demand in Northern Nevada, while others use this support to reduce work hours and focus on their studies.
“We have seen the difference our scholarship funding has made with students attending Western Nevada College and its Automotive Mechanics program,” commented Jeff Campagni, general manager of the Dick Campagni Auto Group. “This scholarship was designed to help people who live here become successful and make a difference in their community."
The 2024-2025 recipients of the Dick Campagni Automotive Scholarship include Emma Carpenter, Caitlynn Cummings, Lila Kaufmann, Ximena Mata Sanchez, Audrie McGarry, Alan Morales, and Audrey Wood.
The influence of Campagni Auto Group extends beyond scholarships. In collaboration with WNC and the Nevada Department of Corrections, they launched an automotive mechanics training program at the Northern Nevada Correctional Center. The program started with an Introduction to General Mechanics course in Fall 2023 for incarcerated individuals preparing for release. Additionally, scholarships are funded by the group for WNC’s Higher Education in Prison program.
Campagni Auto Group also supports other initiatives like the annual WNC Golf for Education Tournament by donating hole-in-one prizes including a $10,000 grand prize.
“We’re so grateful for the way Dick Campagni Auto Group and Carson City Toyota show up for our students,” expressed Niki Gladys, WNC Chief Advancement Officer and Foundation Executive Director. “Their support helps make dreams possible — giving students encouragement and resources they need to reach their goals."
The WNC Foundation is accepting scholarship applications for 2025-2026 until June 2nd through wnc.edu/scholarships. Students are encouraged to apply as one application qualifies them for multiple opportunities.
