Western Nevada College will honor its 2025 nursing graduates during a pinning ceremony on May 19. The event will recognize the achievements of 48 students in the Associate Degree Nursing program.
Marlena Means is set to receive the top Academic Student Award, an accolade based on her GPA in nursing courses. Additionally, six students—Christine Leist, Argenis Hernandez-Rascon, Julia Van Gemert, McKenzie Feest, Mallory Lein, and Teresa Meza—will be presented with the Spirit of Nursing Award. This award is given by the Army Nurse Corps and the National Student Nurses’ Association (NSNA) to those who show commitment to excellence through community involvement and academic success.
Means will also share the Student Nurse of Achievement Award with Kristi Hennessy. This recognition comes with a $2,500 scholarship for each recipient.
The Associated Students of Western Nevada (ASWN) Outstanding Student Awards in Nursing will be awarded to Mayra Servin, Andrea Freitas, and Grace Edison for their contributions to student government and other college activities.
Furthermore, Feest and Edison are recipients of the NSNA Award due to their leadership roles and dedication within their club activities.
