The Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) Board of Regents has elected Byron Brooks as Chair and Stephanie Goodman as Vice Chair for the 2025-26 term. Their roles will commence on July 1, 2025, and conclude on June 30, 2026.
Byron Brooks joined the Board of Regents in 2020 representing District 3. He is a U.S. military veteran known for his dedication to service and community advocacy. His past roles include serving as a board trustee for Congregation Ner Tamid, an instructor with the Nevada Coalition of Suicide Prevention, and a mentor for the Veterans Treatment Court. Brooks previously held the position of Chair in 2023 and currently leads the Investment Committee while serving as Vice Chair of the Health Sciences System Committee. In addition to his board responsibilities, he is an entrepreneur and remains active in mentoring veterans and participating in Jewish community activities.
Stephanie Goodman was elected to represent District 13 on the Board in 2022. Raised in Las Vegas, she is committed to enhancing Nevada through public service and education. Her background includes working as Chief of Staff to the Mayor of Las Vegas during significant downtown redevelopment efforts. She also directs Nevada’s largest nonprofit gambling addiction treatment center, focusing on behavioral health support accessibility. A University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) graduate and former student body president, Goodman advocates for broader access to higher education opportunities leading to meaningful careers.
Under their leadership, Regents Brooks and Goodman aim to continue supporting student success while strengthening Nevada's higher education system and aligning NSHE's initiatives with state workforce needs.
