The Nevada Promise team recently held its annual Mentor Appreciation Night on June 11, aiming to honor volunteers who contribute to the future of College of Southern Nevada (CSN) students.
Mentors from CSN, the Clark County School District, and the wider community gathered for an evening dedicated to recognition and networking. Attendees enjoyed light refreshments, participated in an award ceremony, and had opportunities to connect with fellow mentors. The event focused on celebrating achievements, sharing ideas, and inspiring each other for the coming year.
“We were able to connect with other mentors, discuss our experiences and learn from each other,” said Amy Litman, a longtime mentor involved with the program.
This year alone, mentors have conducted over 2,500 one-on-one meetings with Nevada Promise students. These interactions are crucial to the program's success. The Nevada Promise Scholarship provides eligible high school seniors with a chance to attend CSN without paying tuition fees; however, participating students must fulfill several requirements including collaborating with a mentor.
Appreciation Night was organized as a gesture of gratitude towards mentors for their significant contributions. Their ongoing dedication is essential not only for the program’s success but also in assisting students as they navigate their college experience.
