It has been a challenging task for organizers of the 2025 Tahoe Rim Trail Endurance Runs to adjust their plans, but they are proceeding with trail runs at Western Nevada College's John L. Harvey Field this weekend.

“Yes, indeed, it’s race week, and hot as usual,” stated George Ruiz, TRTER Race Director.

Adjustments have been made to the event courses scheduled for Saturday, July 19, due to Marlette Dam and Flume pipeline projects in the Sierra backcountry. These projects usually serve as key locations for participants and race infrastructure in the 100-mile and 50-mile endurance runs.

As a result of these disruptions, the 100- and 50-mile events have been canceled. Instead, races of 50K and 14 miles will commence at 7 a.m.

“Having to delay registration twice really hurt registrations this year. So, we are looking at a couple of hundred runners instead of the normal 500-600,” Ruiz mentioned.

The only modification to the 50K course is removing the loop around Marlette Peak. Participants will start from John L. Harvey Field, continue up Ash Canyon Road to Snow Valley Peak, traverse the Tahoe Rim Trail to Laxalt Junction, proceed on Capital 2 Tahoe Trail to Waterfall Aid Station, and return via Ash Canyon trail back to the baseball diamond.

For those participating in the 14-mile route: runners will start from John L. Harvey Field, ascend Ash Canyon to Kings Trail, pass by Waterfall Aid Station before heading back to WNC.

“We’re proud to once again welcome the Tahoe Rim Trail Endurance Runs to Western Nevada College. Even with course adjustments, the resilience and determination of this event — and its runners — perfectly reflect the spirit of our campus and community.”

Finishers can look forward to an Ultra Lounge Party offering relief from both heat and fatigue. Available amenities include foot baths, Hoch Family Creamery ice cream, live music from EV and The Electric Soup band along with adult beverages.

Registration for these endurance runs concluded on Sunday, July 13.
