Las Vegas, NV – Nevada Attorney General Aaron D. Ford has announced the sentencing of Marjorie Landron in a Medicaid fraud case. Landron, aged 48 and residing in Las Vegas, was found guilty of failing to maintain adequate records for services billed to Nevada Medicaid between November 2018 and October 2020.
District Court Judge Jennifer Schwartz sentenced Landron for Intentional Failure to Maintain Adequate Records, a gross misdemeanor. The sentence includes 364 days in jail, suspended, and probation. Additionally, Landron must pay enforcement costs to the Attorney General’s Office.
"Healthcare providers who defraud Medicaid are stealing from Nevada's most vulnerable residents and taxpayers who fund these essential services," stated AG Ford. "My office will continue to pursue those who exploit our healthcare system and ensure they face the full consequences of their actions."
In November 2024, The Healing Tree Wellness Center LLC (Healing Tree), owned by Landron, was convicted of felony-level Submitting False Claims: Medicaid Fraud. As part of this conviction, Healing Tree is required to pay $198,000 in restitution.
The investigation began following a referral from the Surveillance Utilization Review unit of Nevada Medicaid against Healing Tree for misrepresented billing practices. It revealed that services billed were not provided as claimed and that records substantiating these services were not maintained by Landron.
The Medicaid Fraud Control Unit (MFCU) investigates financial fraud by healthcare providers serving Medicaid patients and also addresses elder abuse or neglect cases. Funded largely by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services with state contributions, MFCU played a key role in this investigation led by Senior Deputy Attorney General Steve Sidhu.
Anyone suspecting similar fraudulent activities can contact MFCU at 702-486-3420 or 775-684-1100.
