This fall, the College of Southern Nevada (CSN) is implementing a new approach to financial aid disbursement. The change aims to ensure that aid is awarded only to active and participating students, thereby preventing overpayments.

Under the revised process, students who have completed their 2025-26 FAFSA and financial aid To Do List will receive their aid after classes begin. This adjustment is part of CSN's effort to align aid distribution with student participation.

To assist students in preparing for these changes, CSN has launched a campaign titled “Know Before You Go: Financial Aid Fall 2025.” The campaign will provide graphics and FAQs throughout the semester to address common questions and concerns.

Key updates include:

1. Students with completed aid packages may qualify for early bookstore vouchers to purchase textbooks before classes start. These vouchers are intended to bridge the gap while awaiting aid disbursement.

2. August 4 is set as the payment deadline. Students without pending aid or an approved payment plan by this date risk being dropped from their classes.

3. Aid marked as “pending” will not be fully disbursed until students actively participate in class, which could delay credit balance refunds but promotes accountability.

4. September 10 is the official disbursement date. Incomplete files by this date will result in non-disbursement of aid.

Faculty and staff are encouraged to attend a virtual information session on Tuesday, July 22, from 10 to 11 a.m., to learn more about these policy changes and how best to support students.
