Nevada Attorney General Aaron D. Ford responded to a recent court decision regarding birthright citizenship. The District Court of Massachusetts has issued a nationwide injunction that prevents the implementation of President Trump’s executive order, which sought to alter birthright citizenship rules.
Attorney General Ford released a statement following the ruling: "I applaud the District Court’s decision to halt this unconstitutional attack on birthright citizenship. The Fourteenth Amendment is clear: all persons born or naturalized in the United States are citizens, regardless of their parents’ immigration status. My office will continue to fight for the rights and protections guaranteed by our Constitution."
The Fourteenth Amendment grants citizenship to anyone born or naturalized in the United States, and this principle has been at the center of legal and political debate surrounding immigration policy changes.
