The Electrify Nevada Accelerator has completed its first round of cohorts and is now accepting applications for the next phase. The program, run by gener8tor in partnership with several organizations, aims to support startups working on renewable energy, battery technology, and critical mineral solutions.
The accelerator was established with guidance from the Nevada Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED) and operates in collaboration with the U.S. Economic Development Administration, University of Nevada, Las Vegas, University of Nevada, Reno, and the Nevada Small Business Development Center. The goal is to advance Nevada’s role in new energy technologies and battery production.
“The Electrify Nevada Accelerator was very intentionally designed in collaboration with our partners to represent an important element in executing the objectives of GOED’s comprehensive economic development strategy, CEDS, which calls for an innovative, electric and connected Nevada,” said Karsten Heise senior director of strategic programs and innovation at GOED. “The Accelerator is tying in with major GOED supported initiatives such as the NSF Futures Engine, TechHub, Recharge Nevada, as well as being part of the GOED administered State Small Business Credit Initiative, SSBCI.”
In June 2025, ten companies were selected after a competitive process that drew applicants from around the world. Five startups participated in Reno and five in Las Vegas. Over seven weeks, these early-stage companies received coaching and mentorship focused on business development areas such as go-to-market strategies and fundraising.
Participants had access to more than 55 mentors and investors from local industries and corporations. They also attended facility tours and Q&A sessions with leading companies involved in battery technology and material circularity.
“Through the Electrify Nevada Accelerator, we are committed to fostering innovation that addresses the urgent energy challenges facing our communities. By providing resources, mentorship, and a platform for collaboration, we aim to empower startups to develop solutions that not only benefit Nevada but also contribute to broader efforts in sustainable energy and circular economy solutions,” said Ryan Jeffery, Senior Managing Director of Sustainability at gener8tor.
The program combines virtual learning with in-person events across both Reno and Las Vegas. Startups receive individualized coaching from gener8tor staff along with connections to industry experts and potential investors.
Applications for the next cohort are open until August 17, 2025. Four programs will be held each year. More information about applying can be found at https://www.gener8tor.com/nevada.
