Nevada State University professor Dr. Kebret Kebede has been awarded a Fulbright Specialist Program award by the U.S. Department of State and the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board. Dr. Kebede is the first faculty member from Nevada State to receive this recognition, which supports educational and training projects worldwide.
The Fulbright Specialist Program operates in over 160 countries and aims to encourage knowledge exchange and academic partnerships between institutions across the globe. In June, Dr. Kebede worked with Universiti Sains Malaysia, presenting as part of the “Bone Health and Bioeconomy” program. His presentation focused on biomedical innovation, public health, and sustainable economic development.
“It was an honor to represent Nevada State University through the Fulbright Specialist Program this summer,” said Dr. Kebret Kebede. “Collaborating with colleagues at Universiti Sains Malaysia allowed me to exchange ideas, share knowledge, and contribute to larger conversations on a global scale with like-minded colleagues. This experience deepened my commitment to advancing science education and fostering international academic partnerships.”
Each year, more than 400 U.S. citizens are selected for the Fulbright Specialist Program based on their academic achievements, leadership skills, and potential for building long-term collaborations between American and international institutions.
