The Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) has announced a change in its drive test scheduling process. Beginning August 18, all drive tests will be scheduled through WaitWell, the DMV’s current appointment system.
Director Tonya Laney said, “I am so thrilled to finally have our drive tests on the WaitWell system. Ever since our implementation of WaitWell last year, our offices have been operating more smoothly and efficiently, which are great wins for everyone.”
Customers using WaitWell can now access one link for any testing office to see available dates and times. Confirmations for drive tests will be sent via secure text messages, with options to cancel or reschedule directly from the message.
Laney explained that the previous scheduling tool was outdated and limited flexibility: “The old drive test scheduler was an in-house program created years ago. The technology is antiquated and doesn’t allow us to make changes based on office needs. In the past, for example, if we had to close our offices for severe weather conditions, we’d have to call every customer that day; now we can text them directly, which is a much easier process.”
This update applies to all DMV offices except North Las Vegas Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), Reno CDL, and Laughlin locations. All other DMV services remain by appointment only or are available online or at kiosks.
