Brenda Romero, Coordinator in the Office of Diversity and Multicultural Affairs at the College of Southern Nevada (CSN), has been named the September 2025 Administrative Faculty Assembly (AFA) Employee of the Month. She was nominated by Racquel Melson for her ongoing efforts to support students facing barriers to higher education.
Romero is recognized for her work within CSN’s Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. She provides training to faculty and staff about resources available to DACA and undocumented students. "Brenda serves the CSN community as an expert, training faculty and staff about resources available to DACA/Undocumented students. She is passionate about removing barriers and helping all students achieve, succeed, and prosper as members of the CSN community and beyond," according to her nomination.
She recently revised and relaunched UnDocUAlly training, offering it during two recent Convocation sessions. The program aims to inform professionals on campus about myths, terminology, challenges, and resources related to undocumented students.
In addition to these responsibilities, Romero acts as a club advisor helping students build communities on campus. She also oversees the North Las Vegas Multicultural Center where she organizes cultural programs for students, educational sessions, and heritage month celebrations.
"Her efforts help students develop a sense of belonging within our campus community, which is one of the key indicators for student retention," Melson stated.
The AFA encourages nominations for future Employee of the Month awards through an online form at https://forms.office.com/r/5AJyL8EtRw. Nomination forms are due by the 15th of each month.
