United Way of Southern Nevada (UWSN), in partnership with NV Energy, Southwest Gas, and other community organizations, has provided more than $360,000 in assistance to over 1,500 senior households across the Las Vegas area. The support was delivered through this year’s Project REACH Senior Expos, which focus on helping seniors aged 62 and older who are facing financial difficulties pay their past-due utility bills.
The Project REACH program is funded by UWSN’s Emergency Assistance Fund and the NV Energy Foundation. It aims to improve the quality of life for older adults by offering financial help with utility bills and connecting them to additional community resources.
“For many seniors, the UWSN Project REACH Senior Expos, powered by NV Energy, are a vital source of relief during difficult times,” said Samuel Rudd, UWSN President & CEO. “We are grateful to our partners and volunteers whose dedication makes these expos possible. United is the way we ensure older adults can stay safe, supported, and connected at home.”
Brandon Barkhuff, President and CEO of NV Energy, commented on the collaboration: “The Project REACH Senior Expos are a great example of what’s possible when we work together as a community to benefit seniors across Las Vegas. I am grateful for the hard work of our team members and the partnership with United Way of Southern Nevada, as we work together to deliver critical resources to seniors.”
Seniors who could not attend the expos can still apply for utility bill assistance through Project REACH. Eligible applicants may receive up to $300 in aid once every 12 months by visiting https://uwsn.org/projectreach. Southwest Gas customers can find information about eligibility for annual support up to $250 at www.swgas.com/en/energy-share.
The events were sponsored by NV Energy and Southwest Gas.
