The Department of Social Sciences at the College of Southern Nevada (CSN) has released three new video lectures in recognition of Constitution Day, which is observed on September 17. The lectures address current issues such as homelessness, birthright citizenship, and the rights of non-citizens.

Constitution Day commemorates the signing of the U.S. Constitution in 1787. All colleges that receive federal funding are required to observe this day. According to CSN, they use this opportunity not only to fulfill a requirement but also to encourage discussion and connect historical context with ongoing debates.

"Every college that receives federal funding is required to observe the day — but here at CSN, we make it more than a requirement. We make it a chance to spark conversation, challenge assumptions, and see how history connects to today’s debates," stated the Department of Social Sciences.

The new video lectures explore real cases and controversies that are currently making headlines. More information about the Constitution Day lectures can be found at www.constitutionday.info.
