Dr. Stacy Klippenstein, President of the College of Southern Nevada (CSN), participated in a ceremonial first pitch at the Las Vegas Aviators' final game of the season, held at Las Vegas Ballpark as part of Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations.
Klippenstein, who had recently returned from Washington D.C., was joined by a large group representing CSN. Attendees included student athletes, members of student government, Peter Guzman, and the school mascot Cody the Coyote. The mascot was seen interacting with Spruce the Goose and fans throughout the event.
During his appearance on the mound, Klippenstein noted that he is left-handed and joked about throwing a 90 mph pitch. While the actual speed registered at 44 mph, observers described it as accurate and well-executed. The audience responded positively to his participation.
The event featured music and activities celebrating Hispanic culture alongside baseball festivities. According to those present, CSN's presence was notable throughout the stadium.
The evening marked both a close to the baseball season for the Aviators and an opportunity for CSN students and staff to engage with community celebrations.
