Nearly 1,300 volunteers participated in United Way of Southern Nevada’s (UWSN) 10th Annual Day of Caring on Friday, marking a decade of community service efforts coordinated by the organization. The event, presented by PNC Bank, began with an opening celebration at Town Square Park before volunteers dispersed to complete 50 projects across the Las Vegas valley.

The annual initiative brings together local nonprofits, schools, and corporate partners to address needs throughout Southern Nevada. Projects this year included enhancing school gardens, assembling supply kits for students, distributing food to those facing hunger, and assisting with pet care for animals seeking homes. Organizers said these activities would benefit thousands of families and individuals in the region.

“As we celebrate the 10th anniversary of Day of Caring, we’re proud of the incredible difference our volunteers and community partners have made across Southern Nevada,” said Samuel Rudd, President & CEO of UWSN. “Every hour volunteered, and every project completed, improves the lives of families, children, and individuals throughout our community. We’re grateful to everyone who makes our largest day of service possible.”

Corporate sponsors played a significant role in supporting the event. Denette Suddeth, PNC regional president for Nevada and UWSN board member, highlighted her company’s ongoing participation: “For the past four years, PNC’s team has participated in Day of Caring, demonstrating our deep commitment to the community,” she said. “We teamed up with Spread the Word Nevada again in support of early learners enrolled in their Readers in Training program. This year we rolled up our sleeves and completed various hands-on projects in the spacious volunteer room at their new, state-of-the-art headquarters. Day of Caring is one of many ways PNC supports early childhood education in Nevada and across the nation through PNC Grow Up Great, our signature philanthropic initiative to help prepare children from birth to age 5 for success in school and life.”

Barclays also contributed as both a sponsor and participant. DeAndre Esteen, Vice-President and Contact Center Site Coordinator for Barclays stated: “For the past 10 years, Day of Caring has been one of Barclays’ most anticipated events for colleagues in Henderson. We are proud to continue our volunteer support in 2025, and also show our commitment to make the community a better place to live for all through our sponsorship this year.”

Other sponsors included Light & Wonder, Greenberg Traurig, and NV Energy Foundation.
