Western Nevada College’s Nursing Program has been ranked as the top nursing program in Nevada by Nursing Process, an online resource that provides information on nursing education and careers. The ranking is based on several factors, including academic quality, NCLEX-RN exam performance, affordability, student outcomes, and reputation.
“Western Nevada College is proud to be recognized as Nevada’s top nursing program,” said Dr. Audrey Auer, Director of Nursing and Allied Health at WNC. “This honor reflects the dedication of our faculty, staff, and students, and reaffirms WNC’s role in preparing highly skilled nurses who will strengthen the healthcare workforce in Nevada.”
Graduates from WNC’s Associate of Applied Science in Nursing are entering a field that is experiencing significant growth in Nevada. Registered nurses can expect an average annual salary of $96,310 in the state. The demand for registered nurses is projected to increase by more than 23 percent over the next ten years.
The curriculum at WNC includes coursework in nursing as well as social sciences, biology, and psychology. Students also participate in clinical experiences covering areas such as medical-surgical nursing, mental health, pharmacology, and family nursing. Upon graduation, students are eligible to take the NCLEX-RN exam and many pursue further education through RN-to-BSN programs.
WNC’s Nursing Program has previously received recognition for its quality. Recently, Registered Nursing ranked it second among 13 programs evaluated statewide.
“Western Nevada College is proud to once again be recognized among the very best nursing programs in Nevada,” said Dr. J. Kyle Dalpe, President of WNC. “This honor is a testament to the dedication of our faculty, the hard work of our students, and the strong partnerships we’ve built with healthcare providers throughout the region. WNC’s Nursing Program continues to prepare graduates who are not only well-trained and highly skilled, but also deeply committed to serving their communities. We are proud to play such a vital role in strengthening Nevada’s healthcare workforce.”
