The Nevada Promise Scholarship application deadline is approaching on October 31, with Western Nevada College (WNC) encouraging high school seniors and their parents to apply. The scholarship offers up to three years of tuition and mandatory fees for students attending WNC, potentially saving them more than $3,000 annually.
Established by the Nevada Legislature in 2017, the Nevada Promise Scholarship aims to fill the financial gap that remains after federal or state aid, allowing students to pursue higher education without the burden of tuition and fees. The scholarship is available to all Nevada students, regardless of income or GPA.
“The Nevada Promise Scholarship is truly transformative,” said WNC President Dr. J. Kyle Dalpe. “It provides every high school graduating senior in Nevada the opportunity to continue their education at a community college without the concern of cost. At WNC, we are committed to supporting students and their families throughout the process to help ensure success. Students, be sure to meet the application deadline!”
Eligibility for the scholarship is open to Nevada high school students graduating between August 1 and June 15 who plan to start classes at WNC in the fall after graduation. Students who earn a GED or High School Equivalency (HSE) before age 20 may also qualify.
While the scholarship does not cover textbooks, lab fees, or housing, it offers an affordable route to higher education for students across Nevada. WNC representatives will assist applicants throughout the process to help them complete all necessary requirements.
