The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 401 team secured first place at the Western Nevada College Foundation’s 26th annual Golf for Education tournament, held at Toiyabe Golf Club. The team, consisting of Jacob Haas, Matt Henderson, Todd Davis, and Mike Fleiner, finished with a score of 31-under-par 41. They won by two strokes over the Lyon County School District team, which included Neal McIntyre, Neal McIntyre II, John Stevens, and Phil Cowee.

The event began with Deke Monegan winning the Michael Hohl Subaru Putting Contest by coming within 21 inches of making a 75-foot putt. Additional contest winners included Meirra Cavanaugh for Women’s Long Drive, Billy Dunn for Men’s Long Drive, Robin Ponte for Women’s Closest to the Pin at 14 feet and a half inch, and Joe Spencer for Men’s Closest to the Pin at 4 feet and 1 inch.

“A huge thank from WNC Foundation to all our amazing participants, sponsors, volunteers and Toiyabe Golf Club for making this fundraiser in support of WNC students such a swinging success!” said Niki Gladys, Executive Director and Chief Advancement Officer of the WNC Foundation.

The next Golf for Education Tournament is scheduled for September 25, 2026, at Toiyabe Golf Club. Photos from the tournament are available on the Western Nevada College website at wnc.edu/golf.
