Fourteen students have graduated as the first cohort from Truckee Meadows Community College’s (TMCC) Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) in Radiologic Technology program. Thirteen of these graduates previously completed an Associate of Applied Science in Radiologic Technology (AAS-RT) at TMCC.

The BAS in Radiologic Technology is structured for imaging professionals who already hold an AAS-RT degree. The program allows these professionals to advance their technical and leadership skills while continuing to work, with completion possible in 12 months.

Program Director Rori Wilkis said, “The inaugural BASRT class has set a strong foundation for the program’s future. As the first group to navigate a newly developed curriculum, they demonstrated remarkable commitment and provided valuable feedback that will help refine the program for future cohorts.”

Graduate Daniel McCurdy commented on his experience: “This journey has not only deepened my knowledge of the radiology field but also expanded my perspective on leadership, education, and professional development within our field.”

Graduates are now prepared to pursue supervisory, management, and educational positions in healthcare settings. Wilkis noted the impact of the program: “It has elevated their critical thinking, leadership, and communication skills, all while preparing them to move beyond the technical aspects of imaging into roles that influence policy, education, and advanced clinical practice.”

The fully online and asynchronous format enables students to participate according to their schedules. The program also offers special tuition rates for distance learners.

TMCC officials say this milestone highlights how higher education can adapt to workforce needs in Nevada. The college recognizes its first BAS Radiologic Technology graduates as contributors both to their own careers and to strengthening local healthcare services.
