Aaron Meier has been appointed as the new Conservation Education Division Administrator at the Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW), according to an announcement from the department. The Conservation Education Division is responsible for leading communication and outreach efforts to promote NDOW’s programs, services, and recreational opportunities.
Meier has worked at NDOW for more than 20 years, holding positions such as Public Information Officer, Website Coordinator, Publications Coordinator, Social Media Director, and Boating Education Coordinator.
“Aaron’s diverse experience in communicating the Department’s conservation accomplishments coupled with his infectious excitement in connecting Nevada’s public to our wildlife mission gives us great confidence that the Conservation Education Division will continue with its nationally recognized work,” said Alan Jenne, Director of the Nevada Department of Wildlife.
Meier and his division have received recognition from organizations including the Association for Conservation Information (ACI), the American Advertising Federation, the Public Relations Society of America, the National Safe Boating Council, and the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators. In 2020, Meier was named National Boating Educator of the Year. He was also elected President of ACI this past summer.
“I feel incredibly fortunate to be stepping into this role at such an exciting time,” said Meier. “The Conservation Education Division is home to passionate, talented educators and communicators who are frequently recognized at the national level. I’m both grateful and excited just to be a part of this exceptional team.”
