Cody the Coyote, the mascot of the College of Southern Nevada (CSN), was welcomed with a major celebration on October 8 at the North Las Vegas campus. The event featured a parade led by Count’s Kustoms, known from the History Channel’s "Counting Cars," and Shelby American. The parade included several show cars and was attended by personalities such as Count, Tamara Ryan, and Vince LaViolette from Shelby.
Cody was joined by mascots from other local organizations, including Spruce the Goose & Aviator from the Las Vegas Aviators, The Desert Dogs, Lucky from the Henderson Silver Knights, The Scorpion from Nevada State University, Marianna’s Maize, The Las Vegas Nights, and The Miracle League of Las Vegas. The mascots interacted with students by dancing, posing for photos, and participating in various activities.
ASCSN Student Body President Sovereign Hone addressed attendees about the importance of mascot pride. The CSN Dance Program also performed during the event.
A highlight of the day was when North Las Vegas Mayor Pamela Goynes-Brown issued an official proclamation naming October 8 as Cody the Coyote Day. The event was attended by city council members, members of the NSHE Board of Regents, representatives from CSN Athletics, community vendors, and students.
