Western Nevada College’s Bristlecone Art Gallery is currently hosting “A Progressive Ensemble,” an exhibition featuring works by neurodivergent and physically disabled adult artists from Art Explorers Inc., a studio based in Fort Bragg, California.

The exhibition, which runs through the fall semester, presents a range of artworks including painting, sculpture, fiber arts, and mixed media. The show aims to highlight inclusive artmaking and the creative abilities of artists who may face physical or cognitive challenges.

Art Explorers Inc., founded in 1992 at a dining room table, has grown into a full-time studio with more than 40 artists. The organization has received national attention for its focus on accessibility and community involvement. According to representatives from Art Explorers Inc., “We believe that creative thought and expression is a universal right — without rules, restrictions or cultural boundaries. Art transforms lives, fosters connections and celebrates the deepest expressions of the human spirit.”

Dr. J. Kyle Dalpe, President of Western Nevada College, expressed support for the exhibition’s goals: “WNC is honored to host this extraordinary exhibition that celebrates creativity in its purest form. The artists of Art Explorers remind us that art has the power to connect people across experiences and perspectives. Their work embodies inclusion, courage and the transformative joy of self-expression — values that WNC proudly shares.”

The exhibit is open to visitors Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., until December 16 at the Bristlecone Art Gallery on WNC’s Carson City campus. Admission is free.
