This November, the Office of Civic and Cultural Engagement at the College of Southern Nevada (CSN) is organizing an initiative to honor faculty and staff who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. The recognition is part of the college’s Veterans Day celebrations.
Faculty and staff veterans are invited to submit a headshot and a brief note about their military service. These submissions will be highlighted throughout November as part of CSN’s efforts to recognize Veterans Month.
“This is about celebrating the people behind the titles, the educators, advisors, and staff members who’ve served,” said Gersom Abiva from the Office of Civic and Cultural Engagement. “We want to show our appreciation and let our students see the incredible stories right here at CSN.”
Participation in this recognition campaign is voluntary. Faculty and staff can choose how much information they wish to share, such as their branch, years of service, or simply their name and photo.
In addition to this campaign, the CSN Military & Veterans Alliance (MVA) will host an event for faculty, staff veterans, and active-duty service members on Tuesday, November 12, 2025. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Den locations across three campuses: WCU 121, NLVU 121, and HNU 121. Attendees will receive small gifts as a token of appreciation from the MVA team.
The recognition effort is open to all CSN faculty and staff who have served or are currently serving in the U.S. Armed Forces.
“We’d be honored to feature you,” reads the announcement directed at veterans within CSN’s community.
