The Business and Entrepreneurship Club (BE Club) at TMCC has been actively engaging in service projects, utilizing its business skills for community benefit. In late fall 2024, the club initiated the Hearts and Paws Supply Drive, collecting over 600 pet supplies such as collars, toys, food, blankets, and beds. These items were donated to local organizations including Dogs Inc., Feral at Heart, and Boxers and Buddies.
“The drive not only gave back to our local community and allowed students to do the same but also was a way to test if we could successfully branch out into new ways,” said BE Club President Jennifer Perico. She added that despite initial reservations, the effort concluded with significant success thanks to the dedication of club members and support from the TMCC community.
Looking ahead, the BE Club plans to host a Shark Tank event this spring for the first time since 2019. Students can submit business ideas for a chance to win startup funding and receive business planning advice. The sign-up deadline is Monday, March 3.
In other news from TMCC Athletics, the Mighty Lizards Youth Soccer Camps will return this summer for children aged 5-14. The camps aim to teach skills like situational awareness, dribbling, passing, possession, and shooting over five days. Both half-day and full-day options are available with additional activities included in full-day sessions.
TMCC’s Maxine S. Jacobs Nursing Program announced that its Fall 2024 graduates achieved a perfect pass rate on the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN). This achievement continues the program’s tradition of excellence in preparing nursing graduates for licensure.
“Our graduates enter the NCLEX well-prepared and confident,” said TMCC Director of Nursing Jody Covert. The program offers an Associate Degree in Nursing with two cohorts graduating each year.
