The U.S. Department of the Treasury has awarded $4 million to Nevada to support small businesses in key economic sectors, including healthcare, clean energy, and advanced manufacturing. This funding is part of the State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI), reauthorized and expanded by the American Rescue Plan Act.

“Nevada’s small businesses are key to our economy, and I will always work to ensure they have the resources they need to succeed,” said U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto. “This federal funding will help small businesses throughout our state access financing and support economic growth in Nevada, and I am proud to support it.”

U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen highlighted the importance of supporting small businesses as Nevada’s economy continues to grow. “I’m glad to see millions of dollars are coming to our state to help small businesses flourish in industries like health care, clean energy, and advanced manufacturing,” she stated.

U.S. Congresswoman Dina Titus emphasized the long-term benefits for Nevada’s clean energy sector. “By providing clean energy companies better access to capital, we are laying the groundwork for the Nevada economy of tomorrow,” she said.

U.S. Congressman Stephen Horsford pointed out that this funding aims at building a resilient and inclusive economy for all Nevadans. “By investing in our small businesses through the State Small Business Credit Initiative, we empower entrepreneurs, especially in underserved areas,” he remarked.

Karsten Heise, Senior Director of Strategic Programs & Innovation at the Nevada Governor’s Office of Economic Development and SSBCI program manager expressed enthusiasm about receiving this competitive award. “We are thrilled by being selected for this competitive SBOP award which will reinforce our Nevada SSBCI program,” Heise said.

The application from the Nevada Governor’s Office of Economic Development was selected through a competitive process. The $4 million award will enable technical assistance services for high-growth potential companies and Main Street small businesses across Nevada.

The SSBCI Capital Program aims to promote American entrepreneurship by supporting small business ownership and democratizing access to capital across states, territories, Tribal governments, and underserved communities.
