Truckee Meadows Community College announced on Mar. 10 that its Maxine S. Jacobs Nursing Program is admitting 48 new Associate Degree students and currently has 20 RN to BSN students enrolled, with applications open for the Fall 2026 semester. Jody Covert, director of the Jacobs Nursing Program, said the regular application deadline is May 22, 2026.
The announcement underscores the importance of nursing as a career offering job security, earning potential, and personal fulfillment. The college’s partnership with Saint Mary’s Health Network provides students with clinical experience in a nationally recognized healthcare environment. Covert said this collaboration helps prepare students to meet critical patient needs from day one.
Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center is a 352-bed acute care hospital accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Health Care and named one of Fortune/PINC AI’s Top 100 Hospitals. It offers comprehensive services including inpatient, outpatient, urgent care, cardiology, orthopedic services, and Nevada’s first Geriatric Accredited Emergency Department.
TMCC offers two pathways in its nursing program: an Associate Degree in Nursing for new students and an RN to BSN program for working nurses seeking advancement. The curriculum focuses on clinical training aligned with industry demands. Covert said success in nursing comes from strong preparation and support systems tailored to each student.
